A seminar hosted by Denis Naughten in Athlone recently heard that only around 1 percent of local businesses win a share of the €9 billion available in public sector contracts.
The seminar was attended by 50 businesses, who heard experts in the field of public procurement share tips to dramatically boost SMEs’ chances of success and show how working with other SMEs can be an effective way to win tenders.
Tony Corrigan, CEO of TenderScout.com, told the seminar that his company can help businesses to identify opportunities where they can win contracts. He advised businesses considering tendering to research exactly what the buyer wants and needs and to put a proposal together that reflects that.
He also encouraged SMEs to come together to form consortia of like-minded companies which would increase their chances of tendering successfully.
